Beta Cinema has announced its acquisition of Adrian Goiginger's new feature, 'Four Minus Three,' which will have its global unveiling in the Panorama segment of the upcoming Berlinale Film Festival. The distribution company also launched the film's official trailer, offering a first look at the emotionally charged narrative. This cinematic work features a compelling cast including Valerie Pachner, Robert Stadlober, Stefanie Reinsperger, Hanno Koffler, and Ronald Zehrfeld, bringing to life a profound story of loss and human spirit.
The narrative of 'Four Minus Three' draws inspiration from real events, chronicling the life of Barbara, a professional clown, who, alongside her partner Heli and their two children, embraces an unconventional and joyous existence. Their world is shattered when a devastating automobile accident claims the lives of Heli and their children, leaving Barbara to confront an overwhelming void. The film explores Barbara's journey as her profound belief in the power of humor, hope, and compassion is severely tested in the wake of such immense personal tragedy. This poignant tale is an adaptation of Barbara Pachl-Eberhart's acclaimed novel of the same title, with the screenplay penned by Senad Halilbašić.
Produced by Peter Wildling, Gerrit Klein, Martin Pfeil, David Stöllinger, and Goiginger himself, 'Four Minus Three' is a collaborative effort between Austria's 2010 Entertainment and Germany's Giganten Film. Alamode Film will handle distribution in Germany, while Polyfilm will manage its release in Austria. Director Adrian Goiginger is celebrated for his earlier works, including 'The Best of All Worlds' (2017), an award-winning film that garnered over a hundred international accolades, and 'The Fox' (2022), which achieved significant box office success in Austria and received multiple German and Austrian Film Awards.
