Among the new recruits, Zak Yamauchi, an offensive lineman from Stanford, is making a move to Provo. Yamauchi participated in eight games during his freshman year in 2025 with the Cardinal, starting three of those matchups. Notably, he saw action on special teams against BYU in Week 2. Hailing from Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, Yamauchi completed a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before his time at Stanford. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 325 pounds, Yamauchi is the initial offensive line reinforcement for BYU during this transfer period, poised to contend for roles previously held by departing seniors Weylin Lapuaho and Austin Leausa. Furthermore, the Cougars have welcomed Oregon receiver Kyler Kasper and USC tight end Walker Lyons through the portal. Continuing their efforts to fortify the offensive line, BYU also secured the commitment of Paki Finau, a Washington offensive lineman, and Jr Sia from Utah State. Finau, a redshirt freshman, appeared in 12 games for Washington, starting four at left guard. His 2025 season included 426 snaps, earning him a Pro Football Focus grade of 61.3, with a notable 72.7 for pass blocking. Sia, a 6-foot-5, 325-pound former three-star recruit, redshirted his freshman year with the Aggies in 2024 and did not play in 2025.
