Two Major Film Festivals Unveil Diverse Lineups and Honor Cinematic Talent
Lighthouse International Film Festival: A Blend of Premieres and Festival Favorites
The Lighthouse International Film Festival, scheduled from June 10 to 14 on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, is set to present an exciting array of films. The lineup features notable entries such as "Run Amok," starring Patrick Wilson and Molly Ringwald, Matthew Giaquinto's "Red Flag," and Stanley Tucci's classic "Big Night." The festival's program will include world premieres, standout selections from Sundance and SXSW, and various genre-specific showcases. Edd Banda and Stephen Halsted’s "Chili Finger" will kick off the event, while Bayan Joonam’s documentary "Phoenix Jones: The Rise and Fall of a Real Life Superhero" will conclude it. Additionally, NB Mager's "Run Amok," featuring Bill Camp and Margaret Cho, is slated as the Saturday centerpiece, and Joe Swanberg’s "The Sun Never Sets" as the Friday centerpiece.

Alexander is scheduled to moderate a mini-retrospective of Shalhoub's career, offering insights into his extensive work. Furthermore, Alexander will lead a five-day acting intensive prior to the festival’s commencement, providing valuable mentorship to aspiring talents.
American Black Film Festival Awards: Celebrating Excellence in Independent Film
Meanwhile, the American Black Film Festival Awards will host its ceremony on May 30 at the New World Center in Miami Beach, Florida. This event recognizes exceptional achievements in independent filmmaking. Among the nominees for the prestigious Best of the ABFF Awards are Solvan Slick Naim’s "Girl Dad" and Armani Ortiz’s "Otra."
Honoring a Success Story: Steven Caple Jr. Receives Alumni Award
A significant highlight of the ABFF Awards will be the presentation of the Alumni Award to Steven Caple Jr. The festival celebrates Caple Jr. as a testament to the success of its programs, recognizing his journey from winning the HBO Short Film Award in 2013 to directing major motion pictures such as "Creed II," "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts," "Man on Fire," and "I Am Legend 2."
