A Golden Triumph and a Glimpse into the Future
"The Studio" Dominates Golden Globes, Preps for Second Season Filming
The comedy series "The Studio" concluded its first season's triumphant run with a significant win for Best Comedy Series at the 2026 Golden Globes. The show is now gearing up for the production of its second season, with filming scheduled to commence in the coming week. This announcement was made by co-creator and star Seth Rogen during his acceptance speech at the awards ceremony, where he also mentioned the upcoming season's premiere on Apple TV later in the year.
Rogen's Double Win and a Nod to Previous Episodes
This series award marked the second honor of the evening for "The Studio," following Seth Rogen's individual win for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Notably, this achievement comes after an episode from the first season was creatively set during a fictional Golden Globes ceremony. Rogen, who co-directed every episode alongside Evan Goldberg, received the series award from presenters Marlon Wayans and Adam Scott, with Scott having played a pivotal role in the show's Globes-themed episode.
Recruiting Stars: From Awards Stage to "The Studio" Set
In a post-award press conference, Rogen shared insights into his strategy for casting the second season. He revealed that the Golden Globes ceremony served as fertile ground for recruiting celebrity cameos. Many attendees approached him expressing their desire to be part of the show, even for walk-on roles. Rogen specifically noted that several prominent studio executives are interested in appearing, and some will indeed be featured, jokingly crediting Netflix's co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, for paving the way. Rogen referred to the event as excellent "poaching ground" for talent.
A Heartfelt Thank You to the Unsung Heroes Behind the Scenes
During his acceptance speech, Rogen emphasized the collaborative effort behind the series' success. He highlighted that he and Goldberg's decision to direct each episode in long takes necessitated exceptional teamwork from the entire crew. He extended his gratitude to the crew, acknowledging that most of them don't receive invitations to such high-profile events but are unequivocally deserving of recognition. He then proceeded to individually thank several key crew members, including the first assistant director, cinematographer, camera operator, costume designer, property master, line producer, editor, makeup and hair department heads, and even the craft services provider and caterer, underscoring their indispensable contributions to the show's realization.
